Spirituality
Spirituality, there's a strange word. It means all kinds of things to people, everything from astrology to warm feelings about the world in general to a disciplined and structured belief system. We are intrinsically spiritual beings. Tree of Life is about seeking after the spiritual side of our life. The physical and spiritual sides of our life feed into and out of each other, woven together to make us what we are, living, soulful beings. Religion has often crushed 'spirituality'. This has not been deliberate, but a result of the desire of the faithful to preserve and protect the faith they held so dear. Systems are put in place, living tradition preserved in ink and stone, attitudes and ways of living placed within regulations and expectations, resulting in not so much a living faith and spirituality, but a club with rules, a system of governance and 'right doctrine'. Whilst this has a place, preserving the wisdom and learning of those with insight, space is needed for spirituality to grow and evolve for each generation and culture. Sometimes the church has managed this, sometimes not. Tree of Life seeks to rediscover for ourselves some of the ancient wisdom, as well as try new paths seeking God.
We would be interested to hear from you if you have experience of, or are looking to explore, new and ancient expressions of spirituality. Get in touch.... |
