Trees are vital. They trap the sun's energy and provide oxygen for us to breathe. Without them and other kinds of vegetation we would not exist. And they provide us with fuel. We cannot live without them and we destroy them at our peril. Little wonder that trees have a special place in the culture of most people on earth.
Although we live in a scientific age, we all know life is more than hard material facts. The things that make our lives worth living are love, beauty, loyalty and the joy found in relationships with others. These are 'spiritual' things. And, aware of these, we can become convinced that there is deeper meaning in life than the material things that too often claim our attention. The Tree of Life is the symbol of a spiritual quest which you are invited to join.

The Tree of Life programme is organised by Chelmsley Wood Baptist Church. And it is for anyone who is looking for the spiritual, whether you would label yourself an atheist, an agnostic, a christian or an ordinary (no-label) down-to-earth person with the usual (or unusual) worries and stresses. The Tree of Life is a means that may help us to seek out and find the ground of our being, which is God.
